Hurricane Damage Assessment Rapid Response Team (HDARRT)
This ongoing research initiative develops forensic-quality, data-capture technologies for use in assessing weather-related damage. These technologies have also been adapted to do Rapid Environmental Assessment ... including assays of invasive species and rare or exotic fauna and flora ... all in a permanent, geospatially-coded database accessible through a uniquely-calibrated application interface.
Water Quality Buoy
This project created a sheltered-water buoy capable of producing EPA approved water quality measurements, filling a gap between ocean-capable buoys and manual sampling. View the ONR Buoy Conference (09 - 11 March 2010) presentation (pdf: 4.4 MB).
Blue Ray ROV
A team of UNF engineers designed a remotely operated vehicle (named, "Blue Ray") for the 2010 MATE ROV competition. Blue Ray is a micro-submarine vehicle equipped with various sensors and a primary manipulator arm and was designed to aid in shallow-water, coastal, lake, and river environmental research.
